After more than 60 years of school operation and in the course of the HarmoS implementation, the listed buildings of the Gymnasium Kirschgarten were due for a comprehensive overall renovation. This required a careful overall consideration and renovation planning in consultation with the monument conservator of the various building complexes.
In addition to the complete renovation of the building services, thermal insulation measures and window replacement were carried out as energy improvements, earthquake reinforcements, fire protection measures incl. escape routes, acoustics and accessibility for the disabled.
In the process, classrooms, auditorium, library, laboratories, gymnasiums and the swimming pool were redesigned, resulting in a harmonious overall appearance. The school was able to start using the new premises in August 2016.
